Sony has launched its Entertainment Network, a web service that lets you access games, films and music on devices including Sony TV sets, PlayStations, Android phones and tablets, and your PC.
The music service, called Music Unlimited, offers a catalogue of seven million tracks, which you can stream to any Android phone and tablet, as well as other Sony devices. The cheapest package, which costs £3.99 a month, offers themed ad-free 'channels' that contain songs from a specific musical genre. The Premium plan (£9.99 per month), lets you build your own playlists that can be accessed offline.
You can watch films on Sony TVs and Blu-ray players, as well as on the PS3 and PSP. Windows PCs can also access Sony's Video Unlimited service, though Android phones and tablets can't. There's no subscription fee and many films are available to rent or download permanently, including recent releases such as Red Riding Hood and The Adjustment Bureau. Prices depend on the film, and whether you're buying or renting. For example, Senna costs £3.59 to rent and £11.99 to own, whereas Batman: Year One also costs £11.99 to own, but £4.09 to rent. The gaming service is available only for the PS3 and PSP, and costs £39.99 for a 12-month subscription. For that, you can play a number of games, including Worms 2: Armageddon and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, plus demo versions of new games.
Watch Films on Android
Though Sony's new service doesn't let you watch films on Android, Google has launched its own movie- rental service through Android Market (https://market. android.com/movies) that does. You'll need to install the free Video app on your Android device to use it. Prices start at £2.49 and, once you have rented a film; you have 30 days to begin watching it. When you start watching it, you have 48 hours to finish. You can also watch the movies on your PC.
